Default VPS vs reseller vs dedicated

Is there really a time when it can be said that a VPS solution is more ideal than a reseller or dedicated server?

Simply because when I inquired about VPS a while back I found I'd have to manage the box myself, and as I didn;t feel confident doing so, the bill would have soared with management fees.

Does this mean that VPS saccounts are really just for those who feel condident with a command line environment before going dedicated, and after outgrowing a reseller account, or is there more flexibility with them?

If you can manage the VPS, then I guess it's a potential route to go if your intended destination is a full server.

If you need someone to manage it, then I guess you'd be better off getting a mid priced dedicated and a management contract.

I am actually trying to decide what my next step is, and I think VPS is a nice model, especially given its price versus going with an entirely dedicated solution.

If you get the right experienced host you will get what you pay for and be pretty insulated from others on your same server.

I am just trying to decide if I am going to take an interim step of VPS or go fully dedicated.

did VPS comes with unmanaged shape, I mean you have to manage it by yourself or the hosting company can manage it with the package they offer to you?

The VPS will only be managed if you buy a managed solution. You also need to carefully check what is meant by managed as most companies seem to have a different interpretation of "Managed".

Alternatively get in a 3rd party management company.

I would def. go Dedicated. It is all yours after that. Yes, it may seem a little expensive but It is well worth it. You can whatever you want when you want to.
