WebHostingWorld was hosted with Voxtreme UK - who recently announced to get out ASP.
I've since moved the site to a new account at Clook.
And as you may have noticed, I've taken this opportunity to make a couple more important changes:
1. Forum now at root
I had planned for WebHostingWorld to be a site with news, reviews, and a forum, and maybe more.
Looking at my situation at present, I'm never going to be able to keep the site updated like that - so I'm copied all the significant reviews and articles from the main site and pasted them into the forums...
...and then moved the forums to the domain root folder.
So WebHostingWorld is now a forum, nothing else - but that's not bad because there's plenty of opportunity to cover news and reviews at our own pace in here.
2. New look
I really like the old gold and black and white design on the main site - but it made the forums look bleached and ill.
So this morning I woke up with a flash of inspiration - set up the site to look like CPanel.
It's the most popular control panel, so from a user point of view, there's a nice sense of familiarity.
It also uses much better colours, so the overall site I think looks far far better now.
3. Extra content
I bought a very small forum based on free webhosting discussions - I realised it's too small and the branding is weak to justify investment on its own, so I'm looking to cannabalise it between two of my forums, with the webhosting discussions coming here.
There are only about 250 posts to bring here, but I'll try and do that later today, once I know if I can do the job easier by connecting remotely to the original vbulletin database.
Oh - had a little problem with the SEO plugin I had on these forums - will hopefully have that corrected later today as well.
Any comments welcome.
