Default Norton Antivirus

Despite not a free antivirus solution, it is one of the most popular solution. Thus, I hope my review does not break any rule in this forum.

I have used norton for 1 year+ with pretty much most virus being filtered with regular auto database updates. However, it has some bugs (Enable auto-protection not working) esp with my PC installed with Audigy.

There are also quite a number of annoying warnings whenever I use MSN for video conferencing and file sharing. Could it be 'too secure' to try to block off access? I do not think so even though I don't say the system is stupid to differentiate. I would say there might need improvement in the integration with realtime messaging systems.

Overall rating for me would be: 8/10.

I have had so many bad experiences with Norton Anti virus 2006 that I wont touch their anti virus solutions anymore. Although I had a full Norton Anti virus package on my PC I still got hit my so many nasty viruses.

I would avoid Norton at all costs. I have seen machines with and without it and those with out run much quicker.

Use AVG free

I hope you're not using AVG free on your PC that you manage your hosting business from, this would be in direct violation of the license agreement

Please feel free to place an order with us for the full version which is licensed for business use

Back on topic, we've used AVG on our own and our customer's machines for quite a number of years and we've never had a machine back with a repeat virus issue. Unfortunately this can't be said for Norton

Just curious as to what you use on your business PC's then if AVG is on your family PC's. Why do you use a different solution for family & business?

I have an AVG Network edition for the business and AVG free on the kids PC although I'm considering putting the network version on the kid's PC so I can remotely monitor that PC as well.

At the moment Mcafee is running which was on from the start, it was on family computers too. Then one day AVG was installed on a mcafee machine and it needed to be refomat, those two do not get on well. As i said above i havn't come across anything better than AVG so its on the cards for business PC's.
I have a new build on the way soon so starting then i may switch, didn't want to risk installed AVG over Mcafee so it will be reformatting all the way. Nice clean installs

I have a paid version of AVG on my office server and that version is excellent. There is a big difference between the free and paid version.

The paid version is more flexible than the free version and you get more "flavours" of the paid version with firewalls, spyware detection and so on. The network version is good if you do any customer support in addition to web hosting, I VPN into one of my customers and run the network version so I can see who's connecting and when, keep a check on who's getting themselves infected and so on.

I prefer Trend Micro products. The price is good, the people are friendly if you need to talk to them and overall I like the way it runs in the background without disrupting my playing of Warcraft!
