Default Lunarpages

I have a friend who's website is hosted by them, he obviously swears by their service, but then again he has never hosted elsewere. Any opinions about lunarpages?

Well, I'd never heard of them but I went and did a Google Search to see what they're all about and over all, Id say it was pretty good stuff.

I found some reviews on Epinions, but I cant post a link yet so go to the site and search 'lunarpages' or go to google and type in 'lunarpages reviews' it will be the first answer that is returned.

Thanks for that. I will look at those reviews. I went through their site and looks pretty good, but I hve never paid for hosting so what looks good to my might not be that great if you catch my drift.

A couple of things that really bug me about Lunar Pages are:

a) They won't host vbulletin, claiming it's a resource hog
b) Pre-payment for a year in advance

Both issues have completely put me off hosting with them, especially the vbulletin issue - it takes a pretty big forum to be resource intensive, so can be easily perceived as simply trying to stuff the servers.

2c.

Odd that someone won't host a specific bit of software, I could understand it if it was known to be full of security holes or needed a different PHP setup or something along those lines.

Yes, I've heard common host complaints about YaBB CGI - a flat file database forum platform. Maybe that's understandable. But not vbulletin.

Well, that's exactly what I am looking for. I am not planning on hosting a board any time soon, but is good to know they won't let me.

Any other good/bads?
