image editing software?

i need to find some image editing software..
something where i can create logos..and alter images.

preferably free or cheap.
and for macs!

The Gimp, I believe there is a Mac port, Google for it

Yes, The Gimp is right, and it is very good software. This will do the trick, and I know, since it is all I use at this point to create my logos, and even small animations (gif)

If you want to pay a little for support and features, Corel's Paint Shop Pro is great!

I am not sure if Photoshop is supported in Mac. If it is then I think it is the best one.

I tried The Gimp for the first time yesterday and was QUITE PLEASED with it! If you need a free one, that's the way to go!

Welcome to the GIMP club. That is one nice piece of software I have to admit. Free, and unless you are a Photoshop poweruser, there's nothing you can do in PS that can't be done in GIMP.

Thank you for this topic. I´ll try to search for GIMP. I am also interested to learn about making logos and alter images. If this is for free, why not try it?

GIMP is the best free image editing software available however once you are ready to spend some money on image editing software then you should have a look at Fireworks or Photoshop.
