They're a great host for personal web sites.
I mind the ads.. Puts people off most of the time.
The 3GB Monthly Transfer is great.. The 15 MB Storage isn't :P

What exactly does ' monthly transfer' mean? I've never fully understood what this implies to be honest

I used geocities once, and I hated it. Huge ads, barely any space at all and not enough bandwidth. My website is getting large so I am trying to keep away from free hosts. One thing i'd have to say though, is geocities customer service is good and they are reliable.

There are a lot of great sites at geocities. My site is busy related and I don't want someone else's ad on my site unless I receive the revenue.

Geocities can work well for a starter site. It makes it easy for a person to get their site online without much hassle.

In simple terms this is data transferred from the web server to the user. Hosts have transfer restrictions on how much data you can transfer. Said it was in simple terms lol

I used to use Geocities. I still visit a few sites hosted on them actually, just sites with info about online games and stuff - for static pages like that, I guess they aren't too bad, but I find their servers really slow sometimes.

My first site was hosted at geocities but after some inactivity, it was down so I did not continue using it. Instead I used other free hosting services that is not tied to my email account.
