Are you trying to be a host or to host your site? I recommend anzwers.org to host your site. They are free, and they ads are not overpowering at all.

I would suggest XMGFree. It is a premier free hosting company. They offer reliable, quality free hosting services, with the support of paid hosting. No forum posts or ads are required to get hosting. They currently offer four different plan:
  1. Basic Free Hosting
  2. Basic Ad-Supported Free Hosting
  3. Advanced Free Hosting
  4. Advanced Ad supported Free Hosting
All these are FREE plans!! However, you need to wait for 48 hours to get approval after signing up with them!

Check out their plans for more details. The main thing here is that these guys allow you to host your WordPres blog at free of cost! Give them a try!

I'm gonna have to look into this service. Seems pretty good. And if I have no ads to worry about, I'm set

I really have no sites to suggest but for a beginner I would start with Tripod.com. They use a basic upload system that is easy to use. Then you want to upgrade soon after that to a host that uses FTP (File Transfer Protocol) to upgrade files.

Yahoo used to not be too bad, too, but I haven't looked into their stuff lately. I do know they have major limits on their free stuff, and ads on the pages, too.

Yeah, of course. It's Yahoo they can do whatever they want because they know people will continue to come back. I wonder if Google will ever offer web hosting?

I have heard (or read) that it runs across their desks every so often, but is not something they are looking to pursue.
