Default Amard goes belly up

I had a reseller account with Amard a couple of years back, but moved because they had mod_rewrite as a PHP module, rather than Apache, which means mod_rewrite won't always function properly with software.

They seemed a decent host at the time, though, and I've tried to order from them a couple of times - but since they changed over their billing system sometime last year it's been pretty screwy and I couldn't sign up.

Anyway, looks as if I had a lucky escape - seems the company has gone belly-up:

According to WHT, someone was told the company was closing in December 2005:

I'm surprised Amard was never offered for purchase - they were a respected company and must surely have had assets and customers worth buying.

That's a shame, but i have a funny feeling (infact I can almost guarantee) that there will some more hosting companies - more so the "budget" hosts going to the wall this year...

Ouch - it's sad to see the customers there don't seem to have had any warning to leave the ship first.
