Interxion expands London Data centre

Interxion announced yesterday that it has completed the building of its latest project, the London City data centre expansion.

At the close of the project the 1,250m² data centre of equipped space was extended by approximately another 400m².

The new facility also has a 2N configuration cooling infrastructure and a 13megawatt redundant power supply making it a sustainable space.

It also is excellently secured with state of the arc monitoring and alarm systems in place.

Completion of the project earns Interxion the title as the only carrier neutral data centre operator that is located in the city of London, with the power and ability to address customer’s requirements for high density and energy efficient configurations.

This is not the only good news on the table of Interxion, as the company also announced earlier this week that it will be able to provide collocation services in both Stockholm and London due to its selection by The Cloud, a Wi-fi hotspot provider.

Interxion was chosen due to the fact that in all of its 24 data centres that are spread across Europe, the standard per cabinet is 5kW, which allows it to offer direct access to over 500 ISPs and carriers.

Additionally, the company also offers direct access to a large majority of Europe’s top internet exchanges such as NETNOD in Stockholm and LINX in London.

The move is especially prominent for Interxion given the Cloud is the largest independent Wifi hotspot provider across Europe.
