InTechnology has announced that it has now finished a refurbishment at its data centre in the Yorkshire town of Harrogate, which cost £3 million upgrading its entire current infrastructure.
The company which deals in data management, hosting, network and voice services, spent the entire year implementing the upgrade which included installation of three new 1,000Kw generators.
To run the generators they also fitted a 35,000 litre bulk fuel tank, which is capable of keeping everything running for as long as five days.
In addition the company installed a secondary cooling system as well as 120 more cabinets to give them the additional hosting space they were looking for.
They also wanted to improve the carbon footprint of the facility by improving energy efficiency, which they say they have now achieved to the tune of 20% savings over the original facility.
They also installed new fire suppression systems that are automated and make use of Argonite gas, which is released on a room by room basis and puts out fires without causing the damage that water suppression would cause to electrical equipment.
