GB Linkup from XO Added by ServerPoint

Providing additional network redundancy and capacity for its Las Vegas, Nevada data center facility, web hosting provider ServerPoint announced on Wednesday it has added a new gigabit uplink from XO Communications.

The new connection enables the provision of new routes for data entering and leaving its network, enabling more visitors to connect to hosted sites at lower latency. The added redundancy that the connection provides will also permit ServerPoint to lessen the chance of any potential network downtime.

ServerPoint CTO Erik Johnson stated “XO has a very large network that peers with every other major provider, in addition to having the largest IP capacity in Las Vegas. Having worked with XO communications previously, we are confident our customers will benefit from the high quality network access they provide.”

ServerPoint says it is optimistic that it will increase its network capacity to 8-10GB within a year.

Earlier this month, ServerPoint announced it is now offering the latest Quad Core Xeon 2.4Ghz dedicated servers for $199 per month.
