Foundry Routers Deployed by 1 & 1

To power its network for scalable growth and to significantly lower capital and operating expenditures, web hosting provider 1&1 Internet announced on Tuesday that it has deployed Foundry Networks’ NetIron XMR 4000 backbone routers.
After successful results expanded the installation to the Kansas City metropolitan area network, 1&1 says that the company initially installed the NetIron XMR routers in the European part of its backbone. The routers are also anticipated offer heightened security and improved performance, says the company.

To maintain this advantage, we are constantly implementing technologies to improve our customers’ experience. After thoroughly analyzing competing products, we are convinced that Foundry’s NetIron XMR Series routers provide us with the upgrade path and feature set that allows future bandwidth growth and a high level of performance.”
1&1 announced that it has extended its wide area network, earlier this week, bringing the entire bandwidth of its data centers in Europe and the United States to more than 120Gbps.
