Customer portal MyRackspace contains new enhancements, managed hosting provider Rackspace announced on Tuesday.

One of the major updates includes mobile access to allow more convenient options in receiving secure information regarding a customer’s hosted infrastructure.

Additional new features include real time permissions management through a firewall control panel, portal release information via a release communication center, a suggestions center providing enhanced collaborative functionality within the Rackspace community and a ticket attachment providing users with the ability to provide extra information to their support team regarding issues and queries.

Tony Campbell, director of software development for Rackspace stated “Our customer portal is mission-critical in providing customers with timely information regarding their IT infrastructure as well as giving us direct customer feedback on our product and service offerings. Adding these new features and particularly mobile access to the portal enhances the way we communicate with our customer community and deliver Fanatical Support.”

Rackspace states it ultimately plans to provide access to past availability monitoring data to customers, including managed backup threshold alerts that notify customers prior to reaching critical backup subscription utilization.

Last week saw the release of Rackspace’s third quarter results for 2007.
